Despite the “foot and mouth disease” in Botswana (Ngamiland District), the Maun abattoir’s plant manager, Mr Mothobi Mothobi apprised that the plant has exceeded its goal of slaughtering 16,000 cattle per year. In 2014, the plant managed to slaughter 21,000 cattle and exported 4,000 live cattle to Zimbabwe. This comes due to the vibrant and sustainable meat value chain which also engaged farmers associations and veterinary departments at ensuring the consistent supply of uncontaminated cattle. http://allafrica.com/stories/201501281165.html
