Ghana is considering a temporal ban of Nigerian poultry products from following reports of rising cases of avian flu in the neighbouring country. The ban is expected to include the trade of poultry, eggs or anything that relates to poultry. Ghana produced 80 percent of its poultry consumption as of 1993, but the figure has drastically dropped to 10 percent in recent years. It has since imported poultry products amounting to $270 million.
