A three month interim permit was issued by the Zimbabwe government in order to spice-up its grain reserve while approaching the harvesting season said Mr Tafadzwa Musarara(President of the Grain Millers Association of Zimbabwe). The second reason to issue the interim maize import permit is to control and balance the maize price after the local harvest stock has drained, while taking advantage of the current opened maize export window in South Africa, Malawi and Zambia.
