Rice & Cassava value chain/ Nigeria – IFAD earmarks US$7.5 million to boost rice and cassava production
19 May 2015
The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) will assist small holders in Nigeria in the mechanization of rice and cassava production. Training will focus on how to add value to rice and cassava production so as to enhance income, create wealth and jobs for the youth in the country. This new project will also provide finance for fertilizers, agro chemicals as well as improved cuttings and certified rice seeds. While focusing on production, this new project will also support and encourage processors to produce polished and stone-free rice so as to discourage Nigerians from going for imported rice.
