World sugar prices could be improving, with rising oil prices likely to stimulate Brazilian ethanol production to the limits of current installed capacity, and drought threatening to reduce the central-South region?s crop, according to the April 2005 SKIL sugar-sector review. It also reports on:
- the final sugar crop in St Kitts & Nevis;
- Swaziland’s request for Cuban assistance in sugar-sector restructuring;
- the emergence of another new artificial sweetener.
